Jan Guess
JAN GUESS
The paintings of Texas artist, Jan Guess, are a medley of textures that invite tactile observation. She focuses on the interplay of light and shadow while boldly using an array of colors to keep the spontaneity that defines impressionism.
Although Mrs. Guess was educated in the traditional Fine Arts, she has mastered a palette knife technique with acrylic, batik, and mixed media that transcends impressionism. As her work evolved to oil on canvas, she shed her traditional ties for a more impressionistic, intuitive direction. Her focus is a fleeting moment of shadow, light and color that awakens an emotional response in the viewer.
Mrs. Guess’s paintings have international appeal, and are included in collections throughout the United States, South America, Mexico, and England. She is and has been represented by major galleries in Taos and Santa Fe.
